In September I brought in my cat Bumpers who had been misdiagnosed by Fairland Animal Hospital as having an abscess in his mouth, but he wasn't improving, so having a previously good impression of Dr. Carrier and Goshen, I brought him there. Dr. Carrier thought it might be a cancerous bone lesion and an Xray confirmed it. After spending 10 minutes with me to inform me my cat was dying, she left the room to attend to another patient. The following day I received the Xrays and office notes, which left me with many questions. Two days went by in which I tried to get a quick conversation with the vet or someone who knew anything about this condition, and when to make the ultimate decision. When the front desk informed me that maybe, just maybe the vet would call, but they couldn't be sure, I made an appointment at Blue Pearl where the vet walked me through the X-ray and reports I hadn't seen and we made a decision to euthanize the following day. I wrote a negative review for Goshen, which they responded to much faster than they did my frantic request for a call asking me to take down the review and promising to refund the previous bill and comp the office visit for my other cat who needed his insulin refilled. They asked me to give them a second chance. I did. Dr. Carrier is a good vet. The result was as expected, they wanted to do blood and urine work, which would have been credited back. Then the vet came in and told me she felt something in my cat's abdomen and she wanted to do an ultrasound. That was over $425. I'd never felt a growth and neither had any other vet, but I was raw from just having lost my other cat, so I said okay. What she didn't advise me of was the additional $515 to have it read. She also didn't ask if he'd ever had pancreatitis or explore anything else that she might be feeling. I didn't find that out until after this scan was done. In researching what the average cost to have an outside doctor read a sonogram in this area, the absolute highest fee was $250. I discussed this with another vet where I do volunteer horse work in NM and she was surprised because she said most vets can read their own scans. A vet who I know who lives too far away to get to flat out told me they were padding the bill. They said there were about 5 possibilities as to what the Dr. Carrier is feeling, most of which aren't fatal, and the one fatal possibility is not only unlikely, it's untreatable. I am now seeking a vet who can read this scan for a more reasonable price and who genuinely cares about my pet more than the money they make. As I was paying a bill that eclipsed the previous bill I asked the tech if more diagnostics would be necessary. She answered with a gleam in her eye, "For now." I absolutely believe that all of this was not in the best interest of caring for my cat, but recouping what they forgave for their previous poor performance--which they did and then some. Dr. Carrier is for the most part, an excellent vet, but the clinic is otherwise just looking to get folks in there and fleece them when when all they want is quality vet care at reasonable prices. It didn't used to be this way. Very disappointed.
Quick and easy. Friendly staff
I called an hour earlier before entering told them that her lip has started to hang on her face that she might be having an allergic reaction I brought her in waited in the waiting area then these dogs came out for the bill she started to bark at them. They put us in a room then the reception girl came checked her temperature. That’s when the doctor comes in and began to “exam” her he didn’t check her breathing usually I see her regularly vet put a scope on her chest hears the heart beat. He didn’t and that was his worse mistake! I has their for 2-3 hours .No one has physically try to see her mouth. When he changed us to another room I notice her tongue was purple lightly. I said it out loud! No one cared they came to take her blood test and threw up.The took her blood then a lil later they the reception lady said these meds are for her wait for a call back before you give it to her. I brought her back home I was hoping she was just hot and missed home .let her try to relax. The everyone started to notice the color change on her tongue we just kept giving her water but then I tried giving her the pills she threw up. I called they said I should take to the hospital. She didn’t wanna walk up the stairs she was carried up. I brought her to Apex in Wheaton.I was so scared I walked in they took her immediately they sedated her gave her oxygen. They told me how they let you leave like that.cause I told them I just came from another hospital.I give them a receipt cause the doctor was in a rush to leave he didn’t give the record.HE LITERALLY LEFT WHEN WE LEFT!They asked why did he give her antibiotics I didn’t know either. They asked if she token any I said no she threw them up right away .They said good that would of made her worse. I should of never token here this is the worse experience ever imagine if I didn’t go to apex I don’t know what could of happpened. My baby was scared i was to. 5
This is a thing I don’t want anyone to experience!
I cannot say enough wonderful things about Goshen Animal Clinic and especially Dr. Ami Carrier.
Dr. Carrier has been caring for my dog, Paris, for several years. Paris is a senior blind Cocker Spaniel who was diagnosed with Cushing’s disease over a year ago, and I truly believe she would not be approaching her 15th birthday without Dr. Carrier’s exceptional medical care, dedication, and compassion.
Over the years, Dr. Carrier has helped save Paris’s life on multiple occasions. She consistently takes the time to listen, explain treatment options, and make thoughtful recommendations that always put Paris’s well-being first. Her ethical commitment to veterinary medicine is evident in every interaction. I have always felt that she genuinely cares about her patients and the families who love them.
What sets Dr. Carrier apart is not only her medical expertise but also her kindness and empathy. Caring for an aging dog with complex medical needs can be overwhelming, but she has guided us every step of the way with patience, honesty, and genuine compassion.
I would also like to recognize the incredible staff at Goshen Animal Clinic. Everyone is always pleasant, professional, and welcoming. A special thank you to Keyland, Ryan, and Kelly for their kindness, professionalism, and the outstanding support they have provided over the years.
There are simply not enough words to thank Dr. Carrier for everything she has done for my baby Paris. The care, dedication, and compassion shown by the entire team at Goshen Animal Clinic have meant the world to us. We are forever grateful.
Thank you for helping Paris continue to enjoy life, make memories, and soon celebrate her 15th birthday. ❤️🐾
